Top 5 Highlights of the Acura RLX
The Acura RLX is the Japanese carmaker’s flagship sedan known for its myriad comforts, luxury, and safety features. It has a powerful engine, and guarantees good ride, performance, handling, and cabin noise insulation. The Standard RLX, priced at $54,900 (subject to fluctuations), is an intriguing alternative to the flagship offerings from Acura’s contemporaries. If you are interested in purchasing the Acura RLX, check out some of its highlights below.
Design
In terms of styling, the Acura RLX is more stately than flashy. Its distinctive angular headlamps and large grille give it a very imposing and outstanding presence. Its elegant design reveals its stylish alloy wheels, regular chrome inserts on different panels, and beautiful tail lamps.
Interiors
The interiors of the Acura RLX are, again, more luxury-driven than sporty or gizmo-heavy. Its panels and materials feel soft and well put together. The car comes in two variants, Standard and Sport Hybrid (priced at a base price of $61,900). The Standard variant has 12-way adjustable seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, remote keyless entry, push-button start, automatic windows, three-zone climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Sport Hybrid version contains features such as a heads-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 14-speaker audio system, sonar sensors, and a 360-degree view camera system.
Performance
The RLX uses a front-wheel drive powertrain and offers an all-wheel drive hybrid flair option. The two variants of the Acura come in different engine options. The Standard or base version has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that offers a massive 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic gearbox to the front wheels. The rear wheels also can be steered to a certain degree for tighter cornering around bending roads. The Sport Hybrid model, as its name implies, employs an electrified powertrain. The Acura RLX Sport Hybrid uses three electric motors, two sending power to the rear wheels and another assisting the standard V6 motor. This combination produces 377 horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. Acceleration is relatively effortless due to the sheer pulling power of the engines. Therefore, the Standard variant goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, while the Sport Hybrid does so in 4.9 seconds.
Fuel efficiency
The fuel economy of the Standard variant is 20 mpg in cities and 29 mpg on highways. For the Sport Hybrid variant, the fuel consumption is 28 mpg and 29 mpg in cities and highways, respectively.
Safety Features
The car includes a host of driver and occupant safety systems such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking system, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning system, corrective steering system, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitors, automatic high beam headlamps, adaptive cruise control, and several other features.
The Acura RLX was granted a five-star overall safety rating score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This score includes frontal crash, rollover tests, and side crash integrity checks. Overall, coming at reasonable prices and with supreme comfort, the automobile is ideal as it meets necessary safety standards and capabilities.
