Talking Points of the Chevrolet SS

Chevrolet’s old-school concept sedans were designed keeping performance and comfort as the key highlight factors. And the Chevrolet SS four door sedan lives up to these expectations with a bigger engine and even spacious interior. It is a highly underrated sports car that cleverly masks its abilities behind the veil of a 4 -door sedan chassis. And the classic boasts a ton of interior comforts, infotainment options, and safety features. Here are some other key highlights.

Engine and performance
Don’t let the sedan’s simple design fool you at first glance! The Chevrolet SS is different from any other generic sedan rolling out of the General Motors auto factory.

Talking Points of the Chevrolet SS
This 4-door car can tear up the asphalt doing 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds. Under the hood is a massive powerhouse engine featuring a 6.2 liter V8 with a 415 HP motor churning 415 lbs. worth of torque. The design of the SS may look discreet and underrated, but the car is just as good a match when compared to many small sports compacts featuring the same engine setup. You get a six-speed automatic transmission with the option of going full manual depending on your driving preferences. Given the engine setup, the SS is certainly not the most fuel-efficient sedan.
Barring fuel economy, this American classic certainly delivers peak performance.

Interior comfort
The spacious cab can comfortably seat five adults, and you get plenty of boot space at the back with a massive trunk. Despite being an early model classic, this sedan was designed keeping in mind passenger comfort. All leather accents covering the central console and dashboard compliment the simple yet functional design of the driver and passenger side cab. But Chevrolet also takes it up a notch with some chrome trims, faux-suede leather accents, and colorful stitching highlights that give the sedan a pretty sporty look from the inside. The back seats don’t fold, so obviously, there is no additional cargo space. But the cab does feature dual-zone climate controls, heated and ventilated leather seats, and ergonomic positioning for a comfortable seating and driving experience. Best of all, Chevrolet SS is available in 4 traditional paint jobs and an option to upgrade to some cool, unique hues that represent the ear of early 1960s and 1970s muscle cars.

Infotainment and connectivity
Standard SS trims come with the Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment console for navigation, WiFi assist, and audio connection. You don’t get Apple CarPlay or Android Auto as part of the standard compatibility features. Nevertheless, the 8-inch functional central display can also be controlled using the volume buttons and tuning knobs installed in the dashboard. You do get a bass-boosted 9-speaker Bose audio system for a decent surround sound experience. Chevrolet also provides a full year’s subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio. But the car does fall short on many other digital infotainment features that are included by default for many of the newer trims in the market.

Safety
Safety is of paramount importance to the car manufacturer and the SS does boast a few cool specs and upgrades that make the sporty sedan reliable and safe to drive. You do get high performance sporty Brembo® brakes to handle all that torque and ensure the car comes to a quick and safe halt even after slamming hard on the brakes. One of the cooler features also includes an automated parking system that helps you navigate tight turns and corners in controlled acceleration to park the vehicle in tough spots. You also get a number of standard driver-assist features with blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, lane departure warning, and multiple sensors onboard for imminent collision alerts.

Price of the car
The Chevrolet SS is priced at approximately $48,920, depending on whether you buy from a dealership or directly from another owner.

In conclusion
The Chevrolet SS is a pretty cool sporty sedan that combines the comfort of a 4-door sedan with plenty of cargo space and delivers performance that rivals most two-door sports cars in the segment.
