First generation
A new entrant in the small SUV segment, the first-generation Lincoln MKX had a lot to prove. During its origin, it was considered an alternative for people looking for small and cozy Lincoln vehicles.

Salient features of the Lincoln MKX
Buyers were provided with an option of swapping out the standard 18” wheels for more alluring 20” alloy wheels. Other external features included a chrome grille, vertical slats, and a grid. You could also spot fog lights with chrome accents on the car’s bumper. Under the hood, it came with a 3.5L V6 engine. It also had a 6-speed automatic gearbox. On the inside, you had access to wide front seats and reclining rear seats. These were first launched back in the year 2007. Shortly after, the cars were redesigned in 2011. It then offered a newer V6 engine that offered 305 horsepower.
It was also when the Lincoln MKX received its dashboard control; the latest version has touch-sensitive controls. Later, the company added an option of 22-inch alloy wheels in 2013. In 2014, customers could also add the option of a limited edition package to their options and get a high-end SUV for long road trips with loved ones.

Second generation
Starting in 2016, the Lincoln MKX entered the market with its second-generation models. The newer car models came with an optional 2.7L turbocharged V6 engine, 335 horsepower and six-speed automatic transmission. Other optional features include Revel premium stereo with 19 speakers, making the musical drive a delight. It also came with the heated seats as a standard feature. Although the world hadn’t yet been introduced to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Lincoln MKX’s Sync 2 infotainment center could be connected to a smartphone via an application. Newer attractions in the second generation series of 2016 Lincoln MKX included optional steering along with an option of adding adaptive LED headlights. You also had the option of buying the standard front-wheel drive car or choosing the all-wheel drive options for either added money or time. Fast forward to 2018, the newer Lincoln MKX had four trim options, including Premier, Select, Reserve, and Black Label. The standard SYNC 3 infotainment center comes with 10 speakers and an 8-inch touch-sensitive screen. Also, you no longer need to have a dedicated app to connect your phone and car, it now comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Some other standard features include satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, voice recognition, and dual US ports. You can also add a rear-seat DVD entertainment system. Additionally, you can expect to see some synthetic leather upholstery as a standard feature in the Lincoln MKX Premier. Higher trims, on the other hand, come with leather upholstery as opposed to their synthetic counterparts. Added differences in the base models and some higher trim models include blind spot monitoring, rain-sensor enabled windshield wipers, and rear cross-traffic alert. If you want access to these features, purchasing a used Lincoln MKX Reserve or Black Label will fit your bills.

In 2019, the Lincoln MKX of the second generation had an upgrade. The company even decided it was time for the car to have an upgraded name, and renamed the Lincoln MKX to Lincoln Nautilus.

Used Lincoln MKX comes at a cheaper price as opposed to steely priced newer models. The second generation comes with a fair deal of useful features. If you are content with these models, and hunting for an SUV that won’t empty out your bank account, you can opt for the used Lincoln MKX.
