Depending on what one wants from their vehicle and how much use they will get from it, one must go through the list of features each model offers and make an informed decision.
1. Rivian R1S
It is a completely electrically driven version of the original Rivian SUV. Built for heavy-duty driving, it can effortlessly go off-road. Even if the water bodies near rough terrain are greater than three feet, it can move through them swiftly and smoothly.
It delivers outstanding performance with three AWD drive systems (quad motor, performance dual motor, and dual motor). The SUV can accommodate at least seven people and their cargo. Equipped with a 135 kWh large battery, it consumes 65 MPGe (49 kWh/100 mi) for highway and city driving. The modifications and ungraded features can easily challenge the older versions. The starting price for this model is approximately $75,000.
2. Rivian R2
The Rivian R2 is a robust vehicle with lots of leg space and adequate seating for at least five people and their cargo.
This model has a hidden charger, which can be used if one has forgotten to carry their power adaptor. It has a haptic controller for its steering wheels, two glove boxes, and more. There is also a separate carrier for mounting your bikes, so you can ride your bike if you feel like doing so. The powered rear glass will let in a lot of fresh air inside the vehicle, allowing one to enjoy the essence of the outdoors. The Rivian R2 is expected to hit the market in the next couple of years. Even if it takes time, the wait is worth it! The starting price for this model is $45,000.
3. Rivian R3
Rivian R3 has yet to be released. Its anticipated characteristics include a fully autonomous driving function, five radars, and 11 cameras. The ground clearance is more than enough for people to ride comfortably. They will probably have two different types of batteries—large and standard—for different driving ranges depending on the powertrain and are expected to hit 98 kmph. The boxier will be larger than R2, so it should cover 300 miles per charge.
This model’s seamless design ensures that the chassis will not touch the road. Like the Rivian R1S and R2, it harnesses the power of electricity to fuel itself. Like the Rivian R2, this version of Rivian is still under production, so one will have to wait for it.
4. Rivian R3X
The Rivian R3X is the emperor of all the other versions of Rivian SUVs. It appears more like a rally car. There will be single-motor (RWD), dual-motor (AWD), and tri-motor (two motors in the rear and one in front) variations using Rivian’s proprietary drive unit platform and technology. The fastest configuration can reach 60 mph in less than three seconds.
The new 4695 cylindrical battery cells from Rivian, which are 15 mm taller than Tesla’s 4680 cells, will be used in the R3X. Additionally, a native Tesla NACS charging port will be included in the car. The Rivian R3X is fully charged within no time, even if its battery gets depleted at the end of the day. The seats are ventilated and heated. They are foldable , so one can convert them into a spacious platform. Its upgraded, heavy-duty battery allows it to reach a range of about 300 miles, or 550+ kilometers. The software updates will keep improving many attributes of the vehicle. The best part is that it is a self-driving car. Users don’t even have to keep their eyes peeled for anything unusual on the motorways.
The newer versions of the Rivian SUV are still in production. Compare the price and features to choose the model. Waiting for the SUV manufacturers’ surprises may be an adventure.
