Pomeranian Puppy Care and Grooming
Dogs have always been a man’s best friends, they have been there as our pets since the start of the civilization culture and are still living with us in our homes. They say that dogs cannot speak, but they do speak; they speak a different language, a language of love which can be understood only by those who can reciprocate the love showered by these beautiful beings. The love of a dog is second to none, and it is for their prized love that people rejoice in calling themselves dog parents.
Just like no two humans are same, there are different species of dogs also.
When you bring Pomeranian Puppies home for the first time
When you bring Pomeranian puppies through that door for the first time, they might not be able to match your level of excitement.
Adult Pomeranians
As they grow up, develop a routine. Give them three meals a day and four light snacks starting from the 12th week. Though Pomeranian puppies eat often, they eat less. Do not overfeed your pet. Snacks between the meal help to keep up the blood sugar levels of your pet. Fresh cool water should be made available all the time. Teach them the basics of staying in their area and not loitering around.
Grooming Pomeranians puppies: Though a well-bred pomeranian looks elegant and adorable, a lot of care and effort goes into their grooming.
The following tips can come handy while grooming Pomeranian puppies:
Cleaning ears and cutting nails
For cleaning their ears use a swab of cotton dipped in a non-alcoholic solution but be careful enough not to leave the cotton inside the dog’s ears. Clean gently. Carefully lift their paws and bend it at the joint. Use only a dog nail trimmer to cut their nails. Do not over cut the nails, always leave 4 to 5 millimeters of nails from the softer portion of the paw.
Bathing your pet
Make sure you clip their nails before you bathe them. It is suggested to take help while bathing your pet because some animals like to take a bath while others don’t. Shampoo their body thoroughly avoiding the eye and ear area and pour lukewarm water over them. After bathing, dry them properly especially the ear area because unchecked moisture may lead to bacterial growth.
Brushing teeth
There are toothbrushes and toothpaste for dogs available on the market. Use them to clean the teeth of your canines. They may resist it initially but will get used to it eventually.
Flea and tick preventives
They should be applied once in a month to avoid any chances of infection and keep the Pomeranian puppies healthy and beautiful. You can also use anti-flea shampoos while bathing your puppy or can apply the treatment separately as you may please.
Hair
A pomeranian’s hair is their identity so special care should be taken of it too. Use a wire-pin or firm bristle brush to brush their hair preferably daily or twice a week at least. Brush out from the skin, and it is recommended to always wet the coat before brushing it.
Shaving
Hair for sure is the Pomeranian’s asset, but outgrown hair can give them an unruly look. Take your pet for a regular haircut to keep a check on their growing mane. It is advisable to physically exert your dog before trimming to minimize the movement during trimming.
A healthy and well-groomed dog is sure to be adored not just by you but also by every passer, every time you take it out for a walk. So be a proud pom owner.
