Know about the different types of TV resolutions

720p
While 720p is a decent TV resolution, the demand for it is passé. In terms of technicality, a 720p TV contains pixels going by the dimension, 1,280×720. Therefore, it is called 720p. When these dimensions are multiplied, it gives a total of 921,600 pixels which is the minimum resolution that can be derived from a 720p TV. This is the minimum high definition that can be received through 720p. However, as compared to the other resolutions that have come out, 720p is the lowest in the grid.

1080p
The dimension of the pixels in the 1080p is 1920 columns multiplied by 1080 rows.

The total number of pixels received from them is 2,073,600 which is also known as a Full HD. The HD experience derived from the 1080p lets a user enjoy a full high definition screen. The display is more than twice as sharp as a 720p TV. For quite some time now, the 1080p screen resolution has been the standard display and users tend to look for TV resolutions higher than 1080p. Most of the content is also produced and dispensed in 1080p.

2K
Not many have come across 2K resolution primarily because it is more famous as a cinema resolution. It is also commonly referred to as a “master format.” Basically, this resolution is most common in digital cinema projectors that are used in theatres. The pixels are 2,084 wide and no vertical resolution is cataloged. Thanks to the fame caught by 4K, 2K resolution is slowly gaining popularity as a common shorthand for the devices with a 1080p resolution. There are various televisions now being sold with a 2K resolution, which is a step below the 4K Ultra HD’s sharp frame.

4K Ultra HD
4K Ultra HD is currently a highly popular TV resolution. Touted to be the best TV resolution, the pixels are placed with a dimension of 3840×2160, which brings life to every content displayed on the screen. 4K is often referred to as Ultra HD or UHD (ultra high definition). Many have suggested that the name 4K UHD is not technically apt since the columns and rows of pixels is 3,840×2,160. Therefore, it is arguable that the name should be 2160p instead of 4K. Irrespective of this, the picture quality is amplified by four times as compared to pixels on a full HD 1080p display.
