A Brief Overview of the INFINITI G37
The INFINITI G37 is among the entry-level luxury cars from INFINITI. Apart from its sleek, alluring design, classy cabin, and ultra-powerful engine options, the G37 is available in plenty of variants. One can buy the car in sedan, coupé, or convertible forms. The original base prices range between $32,550 and $61,450, but these are subject to change. Here are some of the car’s key highlights to consider before driving it home.
Interior design and space
The INFINITI G37’s cabin offers a premium feel across its three forms. The seats are plush and comfortable, and soft-touch materials made of leather, aluminum, magnesium, and wood adorn most surfaces.
The G37’s list of standard features is longer than most cars in its segment. Leather upholstery for both rows and a heating function on the supportive front-row seats ensure passengers remain largely comfortable on long rides. The rear seats are spacious, although the passenger in the middle can be slightly cramped for room. The optional sports seats in the front row get more bolstering, making them too snug for the front passengers. As expected, the coupé and convertible models offer seating space for four, but their rear seats have lesser space than the sedan.
Across all three forms, front passengers get 43.8 inches of legroom. Rear legroom differs depending on the variant; it is 34.7 inches in the sedan, 29.8 inches in the coupé, and 27.2 inches in the convertible. The boot space in the sedan, coupé, and convertible is 13.5 cubic feet, 7.4 cubic feet, and 10.3 cubic feet, respectively, with the top up.
Engine, performance, and fuel economy
The different trims of the INFINITI G37 across its three forms have different variations of the same 3.7-liter V6 engine. These engines produce power in the range of 328 to 348 hp and torque between 269 to 276 lb-ft. The IPL (INFINITI Performance Line) models are tuned for higher performance and better driving dynamics. The sedan and coupé can be bought with a seven-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox, while the convertible comes only with the six-speed manual option.
All the engines offer strong acceleration, propelling the INFINITI G37 from 0 to 60 mph in around 5 to 5.4 seconds. The car’s responsive driving manners complement this sportscar-level performance. In terms of fuel economy, the sedan and coupé variants return 17 to 19 mpg in the city and 25 to 27 mpg on highways. The convertible models return 16 to 17 mpg in the city and 24 to 25 mpg on highways.
Ride and handling
The INFINITI G37’s ride is less than perfect on poor roads, as several bumps and undulations frequently filter into the cabin. The car’s coarse engine noise also trickles into its interior. But, the stiff ride is balanced by dynamic handling.
The steering and brakes across all variants are responsive and direct. The agile body control and grip on twisty roads are impressive, and the car’s chassis plays its part in making the G37 a nimble handler.
Features and safety equipment
The INFINITI G37, across its three forms and several variants, comes with handy features, including comfortable heated front seats, a backup camera, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, a six- or ten-speaker audio system with stereo, speed-sensitive volume control, satellite radio, and USB connectivity. Owners also benefit from a theft deterrent alarm system.
The safety features include airbags, stability control, traction control, four-wheel ABS, ventilated discs at the front and rear, emergency braking assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, dusk-sensing headlamps, xenon high-intensity discharge lamps, and many others.
