Soak a cotton ball in a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide, and apply it to the affected area. Leave it for a few minutes and repeat this process every few hours. If you have cold sores, you can add a spoon of the solution in some water and use it as a mouthwash.
Garlic
Garlic has natural anti-microbial properties. It is an anti-inflammatory agent and can be highly effective in reducing herpes. The easiest way is to add crushed garlic to your recipes or place a crushed clove of garlic on the affected area at least two to three times every day.
